ABOUT US
Since 2022, UKF has launched over 200 projects, helping thousands of Ukrainians not just survive but find a new beginning in Sweden.
Ukrainsk Kulturförening i Sverige (UKF) was founded in Sweden in 2022, when over 50,000 Ukrainians were forced to leave their homes due to the war in Ukraine. They left behind the ruins of their previous lives, carrying in their hearts anxiety and a faint hope for a better future.

Sweden became our new home, but this home was filled with the unknown: a different language, unfamiliar customs, a system that at first glance seemed almost insurmountable.
We, people who had lost everything, struggled with all our might to find footing in this new world. For many, each new day was a struggle, a search for a way to feel at home again without losing a part of themselves.

OUR JOURNEY

Feeling deep pain and an acute need for support,
we founded Ukrainsk Kulturförening i Sverige.
This was not just an association of people – it was an act of care, a gesture that radiated support in the most challenging moments. From 2022 to the present, the organization has created over 200 projects, each aimed not only at helping people survive but also at showing that it is possible to thrive even in a new country.

  • Sports events organized by UKF brought moments of joy to children, helping them forget pain and stress, find new friends, and feel part of the new society.
  • Consulting projects brought people together, providing them with the necessary knowledge and support for the first steps in their new lives.
  • Humanitarian projects not only met basic needs but also brought confidence that there were always those nearby who were ready to help.
These are just a few of the projects that UKF has carried out together with friendly organizations in Sweden:
In 2023 and 2024, UKF organized a Swedish language school at ABF Södertälje Nykvarn, where 100 Ukrainians were given the opportunity to overcome the language barrier and overcome isolation.
Together with 'Södertälje Kommun', we held 'Ukrainian Week', which brought together over 500 Swedes for an exhibition, concert, and fair at Stadshusset.
We launched a 'Humanitarian Project' with the support of volunteers from 'AstraZeneca', where hundreds of families received clothes and shoes, some of which were sent to hospitals in Ukraine.
  • Legal consultations.
  • Summer camps with 'Assyriska FF'.
  • A run with 'Scania Milen'.
  • Collaboration with 'Svenska Kyrkan'.
  • Sports event for 500 Ukrainians with 'AIK Solna'.
This activity did not go unnoticed by:
  • participation in a talk show on TV4 with Jenny Strömstedt,
  • numerous articles in SVT Södertälje,
  • radio reports
All this confirms the importance and responsibility of UKF i Sverige's social position.
In 2024, the organization officially registered, finally realizing the need and readiness to be independent and self-sufficient in order to continue its mission and help the Ukrainian community integrate into Swedish society.
The story of Ukrainsk Kulturförening i Sverige is a story of humanity in helping refugees from Ukraine in Sweden, a journey of 2.5 years of very dedicated work by volunteers and the Swedish community.
